The “Hot Tub AquaFill” is designed for use with above-ground portable spas, and like fountains, they require manual filling. The greatest drawback to filling your hot tub with a garden hose is the frequency of overflows and flooding associated with getting preoccupied with other tasks and forgetting to turn off the hose faucet. Water damage and homeowner policies can be a volatile issue in many said according to Don Griffin of the National Association of Independent Insurers, a trade association for property-casualty insurers. Chief among the cause of pool or hot tub overflows is forgetting to turn off the hose when filling or malfunctioning mechanical float control systems. These are nothing more than standard toilet tank floats (Fluidmaster) which often malfunction and will not shut off as they were designed to, resulting in an overflow and possible lawsuits from neighbors. The AquaFill has no troubleshooting list. It was designed to turn on and off one million times. The AquaFill float sensor is used in the canning and bottling industry and has a failure rate of only. The Hot Tub AquaFill installs in approximately one hour and fits comfortably in any hot tub equipment space. Once installed, you will never have to fill your hot tub by hand again. The water level in the hot tub flows into the AquaFill assembly and into the float chamber where the water level equalizes. The assembly can be telescoped up and down for the purpose of adjusting the water level in the hot tub. The solenoid valve can be plumbed into either a return line or supply line for adding water to the hot tub as needed. The water supply to the solenoid can be as small as 3/8 the inch plastic or copper tubing, making it easy to hide in a variety of ways. The tubing can also be inserted in the joints of tile on a patio. The hot tub kit comes with the AquaFill assembly, 24-volt transformer, a solenoid valve (backflow preventer) and locks nut with rubber gasket seal. In the basic hot tub installation, drill a hole through the shell 5 to 6 inches below the desired water level. The threaded the male adapter through the hole and the rubber washer, and the rounded washer is tightened down to hold the assembly in place. Once installed, the assembly can then be telescoped up or down to establish the desired water level. In most cases, it will be necessary to have an electrician wire an 110 volt AC plug in the equipment compartment for the 24-volt transformer to plug into to supply the power for the Aquafill switch to operate the solenoid valve.
